Hello Lovebirds!
Since I launched my new website a couple of weeks ago, I thought it would be a great idea to re-introduce myself. I assume, what you already know about me is… I’m Priya, a Birmingham, U.K. and Europe Wedding Photographer. But, lets get a little more personal.
Q: What is it that you love about photography?
In a growing digital age where we are surrounded by people glued to their phones, I adore seeing real interactions between people. An elderly couple holding hands, a group of friends sharing laughter, a new couple excited to see each other. Those real interactions fascinate me, which is why I adore photographing people in a documentary / lifestyle way, especially such a special occasion like their wedding day. I’m lucky enough to have photographed some of the most beautiful weddings across the country. Often, those of which the couple are from mixed heritage backgrounds. I feel incredibly fortunate that I get to witness and share limitless, accepting, inclusive love.
Q: What other facts can you tell us about yourself?
“I’m the girl who listens to gangsta rap
on the way to the farmers market after yoga.”
My Birthday is on Christmas Day. I’m an 80’s baby that apparently still looks 21. YAY for good genes!
I have 2 tattoos… possibly a third soon!
I’m an accidental Vegetarian. It just happened!
I LOVE old skool hip-hop music. Tupac is firmly on my playlist. In fact, I took Media Studies for one of my A Level’s, where I based research and an essay on the relationship between rap music and the growing gang culture. I know right… who would have thought. I got an A grade for it too. Thank’s Mr. Cole!
Besides my love for old skool hip-hop, I’m actually an all rounder with music. I love music from artists like Chinah, Banks, Kehlani, Birdy, Paloma Faith, Lana Del Rey to name a few.
I’m a fitness junkie! In September 2017, I hiked up the highest mountain in the Britain, Ben Nevis, to fund raise for The Sick Children’s Trust. We were lucky enough to experience the summit with no snow, no mist, no wet weather. I documented my trip, you can check it out here.
I have a thing for Italy although I’ve never visited (but I will!). I’m fascinated by the culture, the food, the drinks, the way of life, the Gelato! Italian cuisine is my favourite. Can anyone tell me where I can find Cannoli in the West Midlands!?My business is actually inspired by Italy. I chose the name SORRISO because it means “smile” in Italian and I photograph moments that make people smile!
I HATE MUSHROOMS!
Nothing makes me happier than raising money or awareness for meaningful causes or spreading a little love and hope by feeding the homeless. Giving back is something I’ll never stop doing.
I am OBSESSED with lemons. Lemon flavoured cakes and drinks, bring them my way. If it smells lemony… spray me! I mean, they’re so good for so many things, cleaning, skincare, digesting!
Autumn is my favourite season. I’m obsessed with the hazy low sunshine, the colours and those incredibly satisfying crunchy leaves under foot. The trick is to step on the slooooowly, you know, to really feel that crunch in your soul!
80’s movies are my favourites. Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Big Trouble in Little China, The Golden Child, The Goonies, Labyrinth, Kindergarten Cop, Big, Drop Dead Fred, Total Recall, They just don’t make them like they used to!
My go-to most favourite snack is Cinema Sweet Skinny Popcorn by Metcalfe’s. I make sure I have my supply topped up in my snack drawer.
Did someone say COFFEE? I’ll have mine white with a sweetener, thanks!
I have a fear of clusters of circles/holes together. Trypophobia is real people!
I have no pets, but I really want a Beagle. I’m soooo a dog person!
I’m an Ambivert.
If everyone has it, I don’t want it.
I can move one eye and keep the other still… FREAKY!
