Have you considered the importance
of pre-wedding Skincare?
It’s been a few months now since your significant other proposed and you’re excited about the lifelong commitment you’ll both be taking when your wedding day comes. You’re in the process of ticking off all the completed tasks on your Wedding Planner ‘to do’ list. Your venue is booked, the photographer is booked, you’ve picked out your wedding dress and those oh so dreamy wedding shoes we talked about on my previous blog post. Now you’re about to book your makeup artist too and BOOM… you’ve noticed the condition of your skin could be better. Is it dry? Have you been breaking out with stress or maybe hormones. Maybe your fella needs a little TLC with his skin texture. Whatever the condition of your skin, you still have time to revive its appearance. You’ve said “Yes!” to your sweet other half and now its time to get committed to a skin specialist and say “I do” to skincare!
I’m not engaged… (Yet!) but as a 30-something year old, I’ve noticed my skin has become tired, dull and my tone is uneven. I dabbled in products from the high-street and found them to be doing very little for my skin concerns. With so many products available, I found it difficult to understand what worked for me and it lead to me having various lotions and potions from all different brands taking up space in my dressing table drawer. Then one day, I threw it all out and decided it was time to seek professional advice. I’ve always promised myself that if I were ever lucky enough to be planning my wedding day, skincare would be a priority for me. I want to feel confident in my own skin on my wedding day and I want there to be an even, smooth base for my bridal makeup to last all day. Some skin concerns can only be improved with medical grade products. From a photographer perspective, it can be time consuming to edit skin in photographs, which may result in additional fees for seeking a retouching service. When it comes to your actual wedding day, makeup may cover sore looking blemishes but texture can be seen and videographers will not be able to edit out your skin on a moving footage.
I stumbled across Eterno Skin Clinic based in Wolverhampton after one of my previous Brides had used them for her pre-wedding skincare journey. I made an appointment to have a consultation with the lovely Annabelle (skincare professional and owner of Eterno Skin Clinic) who talked through my skin concerns and we agreed a plan of action to tackle my skin issues. I’m well on my way to healthier, glowing skin. so I thought I’d get Annabelle on the blog to share advice and tips on pre-wedding skincare.
Q. ANNABELLE, WHAT LEAD YOU TO BECOMING PASSIONATE ABOUT SKINCARE?
I’ve always loved helping people and making people feel good about themselves and having skin troubles of my own, I knew first hand how damaging it could be to someones confidence. So I wanted to make it my sole aim alongside my husband, to create a space people could visit to gain back that confidence and that’s when Eterno was born.
Q. WHEN A BRIDE OR GROOM COMES TO YOU FOR PRE-WEDDING SKINCARE, WHAT IS YOUR TOP TIP TO HEALTHIER LOOKING SKIN?
I’m a real advocate of starting with great foundations, so to each and every one of my Brides and Grooms I recommend they have a great skin cleanser, a dermal hydrator and a broad spectrum SPF. Then, once the skin is healthy, it creates a great avenue for treatment recommendations.
Q. HOW LONG WOULD YOU ADVISE A BRIDE OR GROOM TO LOOK AFTER THEIR SKIN BEFORE THE BIG DAY?
As a rule of thumb, 6 months is good time-frame. However if I am working with Brides and Grooms who have specific skin concerns, such as acne, pigmentation or scarring, then a more extensive treatment plan may be required. So I’d say, ideally start thinking about it a year before your wedding date.
Q. WHAT ARE YOU TOP THREE SKINCARE PRODUCT MUST HAVES?
I am such a lover of DermaQuest skin therapy, having worked alongside the brand for nearly 10 years. My go to products from that range are the Essential Daily Cleanser, Advanced B5 Hydrating Serum and the SheerZinc tinted SPF. I recommend these to all of my clients on treatment plans without fail. The gentle cleanser will remove makeup, dead skin cells, dirt and oil without stripping the skin (an enzyme cleanser is great), the B5 hydrating serum contains 40% hyaluronic acid, which is essential for skin hydration and the SPF will protect your skin from pollution and environment damage.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR MOST POPULAR TREATMENT IN CLINIC AND WHAT ARE IT’S BENEFITS?
The most popular treatments we do in clinic are DermaPen Microneedling, chemical peels and exfoliating treatments, such as ProSkin and Dermaplaning. For acne clients, chemical peels are really effective. For scar reduction and age management clients, Microneedling is fantastic and we have so many clients who just come in for monthly maintenance treatments to help keep their skin in tip top condition. This is where the exfoliating treatments we do are perfect. Any new client will have an initial consultation to decide which is the best option for them.
Q. MOTHER OF THE BRIDE WANTS TO REVIVE HER SKIN TOO. DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR MATURE SKIN TYPES?
Yes, Dermapen Microneedling is fantastic! It’s such an amazing collagen induction therapy treatment that it will really soften any lines and wrinkles, work on skin texture and bring healthy skin cells to the surface, giving a beautiful glow.
Q. WHAT CAN ETERNO SKIN CLINIC OFFER TO BRIDES AND GROOMS WITH SENSITIVE SKIN?
We find our LED Light Therapy, IPL Skin Rejuvenation and Signature Facials tend to be the best options. Aided with a specific range of home care products to continue caring for the skin between treatments. All of our in-house medical product ranges cater for sensitive skins.
Q. ON THE MORNING AND THE NIGHT OF THE WEDDING, WHAT WOULD YOUR KEY SKINCARE ADVICE BE FOR BRIDES AND GROOMS?
A few days before the wedding, drink LOTS of water and bathe yourself in hyaluronic acid, haha! Avoid an excessive amount of sugary foods, as these can cause breakouts and lay off any active acids (salicylic acid, glycolic acid, retinol to name a few) that you may have as part of your home product routine.
A face mask is great to apply night before (hyaluronic acid based). Give your skin a thorough cleanse in the morning, followed by a great hydrating serum. I would advise Brides and Grooms to avoid wearing SPF’s that they haven’t done a ‘flash back’ camera test on, as SPF can cause a flash back (a white/grey cast on photographs), which you’d want to avoid. Your makeup artist can help advise you a great primer I’m sure!
Q. DOES ETERNO SKIN CLINIC OFFER ANY SCHEMES OR DEALS?
New clients that are referred to us will receive £10 off their first treatment. As well as this, we regularly run monthly Facebook promotions of our new treatments at 50% off, which is another great way for clients to be introduced to us. All consultations are free too! We value each and every client at Eterno and that is why we have a great reward scheme that each client is automatically enrolled on at the start of their journey. This reward scheme allows clients to earn a ‘cash back’ reward after a service is received (cash back starts from £50 plus spend), which they can then can exchange for a treatment credit after their 5th visit. We’ve found that this can be a great way for clients to experience new treatments at a fraction of the price. A main benefit of visiting us here at Eterno is that we offer a pay as you go pricing structure for all of our treatments, meaning no upfront costs are required.
Thank you Annabelle, it’s been an absolute pleasure having you on the blog sharing your skin secrets. I’ve been a client of Eterno (and Annabelle) now for quite some time and I’ve had various treatments to help improve my concerns. I found the Dermapen Microneedling treatment the most effective and quite fascinating how it renews the skin. With the use of medical graded products during treatments, along with a complete home care plan, my skin looks and feels the best it’s ever been. Cannot thank the lovely ladies at Eterno Skin Clinic enough for their care.
